French, Fabulous - Not Black Forest (you know we LOVE the old hand carved wood!), this is a fabulous large matching pair of buffet or cabinet doors, ready to be worked into a cabinetry project or your kitchen, bathroom - just need outer trim. Neo-renaissance figural and accented carvings in a deep bas relief more than 2" depth. A gorgeous deep bas relief carved Neo-renaissance lion's head on each one. You'll want these to build in your locking wine cabinet right into your kitchen cabinetry if you'd like, or into a wall. Look at that hand carved oak, so Country French it makes me think of the late great Charles Faudree, designer extraordinaire, whose Country French accents sometimes came from our collections, and who we miss. I can just see this built into a cabinet in a bathroom in his homes (or mine!). I love these as the doors for recessed cabinets here or there, particularly bathroom and kitchen. You'll find the perfect spot! With that bold lion motif, so beautifully done, I can't wait to see what one of you will make of this pair. The cabinet doors are each 23.75" tall and 22.5" wide, 2+" thick with carving, .5" thick backing - in hardwood, not veneer, of course. Don't they just beg to be made up to open and reveal a wine rack-fitted interior? I think so, too!
Very good to excellent condition. This set of 2 is stunning! Fabulous and heavy hardwood you just can't get anymore, and entirely hand carved. It's a late 1800s to earliest 1900s set from a large elegant buffet, I'd guess. Just in from Paris with a big shipment of these - look for others (sold separately). They're all my favorites! Full measurements are noted on our large detailed photos, too. But these are massive. Heavy. Luxuriously fabulous as they come!
NOTE: the panels each have a little lighter band around outside of each, looks like they had a trim board no longer there. I find no chips to report, but I admit I am bedazzled looking at these two, so you look them over well. You can't possibly get solid hardwood old growth oak carved for this price today, you know. No hardware on this pair. They can be mounted directly on surface of your cabinetry, too, just cut to size and add a trim board.
