A charming antique French vide poche (empty pocket), the little bedside holder for your pocket watch and your jewelry or pocket change for overnight survives since mid-1800s with the tole painted leaves and rose as nicely preserved as the scalloped mother of pearl natural shell. The wire frames of these charming little trinkets uniting the tole and the radiantly pearlescent shell. There by the rose is the hook for your pocket watch, and the shell forms the cup for watch chain, or jewelry. Most agree these are likely to have been souvenirs of Mid-1800s Paris, offered through boutiques flanking the gardens of the old Palais Royal. Full measurements are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent, I really don't find a single flaw to disclose. The wire and tole-painted metal framework and watch hook are solid and beautifully preserved, and there isn't a single nick or chip or hairline on that radiantly pearlescent shell. Note this one has the souvenir etching at one side, suggesting same makers, but perhaps not from Palais Royal.
