Pierre-Charles CIOR (Paris 1769-1840) was a French miniaturist artist, a painter who exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1796 to 1838 and who was active throughout Europe. He was appointed miniature painter of the King of Spain and also worked at the Royal court of Russia. This portrait of a Nobleman c.1790s, is a fine example of this artist's notable body of work. His miniatures are represented in most noted collections. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, the painting is exquisitely crafted and perfectly preserved but for a tiny area of disruption at about the 5 o'clock position border where a few small flakes are visible. No chips and no hairlines or cracks. Painting is signed by very well listed artist, as noted. The wood frame is exceptionally well preserved, and has the original slightly convex cover glass in place.
