I am quite certain this cabinet started out as a cigar chest, but it's been altered, no cigar shelves nor supports remain on the interior of the double-door top compartment. The typical lower drawer remains, though, and it could certainly be re-fitted for cigars. Great cabinet in a rather unique oak leaf and acorns aesthetic, a carved acorn as the drawer pull. Very charming, and nice-sized at over 10" long. Swiss Black Forest artisan's work, c.1900-1920. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition in the form shown, for age and type. Simple and charming, both, I find no chips or cracks to the carved oak leaves and acorns, and that impossibly sweet acorn drawer pull is excellent, too. Light stained wood, likely Linden, and a Country French feel to this one. Sewing cabinet? You'll find its best future use. Photos show it all, including the very slight lift/warp to the front left of lid (you won't notice it unless you get down eye-level). Drawer slides smoothly. Not so heavy as a lot of these, which makes a lighter shipment.
