I purchased these from an important but anonymous New York State estate 10-15 years ago and have protected and loved them. The pair are so beautifully carved and crafted, have the original 18th century needlework, needlepoint and petit point tapestries still in place and without loss or damage. It's obvious to me they're all original, down to firm horsehair, etc., seats under the hobnailed original tapestries. Excellent when I purchased them, and excellent now. On one panel of photos I show a near-matching settee I've located which is not mine but might have been in the original suite of furniture made, and I've shown a photo of it (it was listed on 1st dibs) and also on that panel I show it beside an 18th century French arm chair and an English rosewood chair from other sets I have more to show scale comparisons (pardon Izzy - she's my Manx). Lots of photos show the details, and measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. There are no holes or tears or bug damage to the old wool yarns used in those fabulous needlework seats. Nowhere on the carving do I find a chips nor hairline or crack. Museum quality - your chance to own a spectacular pair of Chippendale era masterpieces. We are including white glove shipping to any US State in the continental 48 in our price.
