Another from my own collections, this one in boiled horn and trimmed out in a lot of 18k gold. Very rare to find these 18th century ones (gold marks visible) without breaks or cracks or chips in the semitransparent horn, and/or with all of the gold banding still fully intact. There are multiple punches of 18k gold control marks (very tiny) on each of the 18k gold bands and it has also been acid-tested at 18k. Precious and rare. Museum quality! Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition, no cracks or chips, no breaks in the boiled horn box, and all of the 18k gold in place and undamaged. This one has been either very well-treasured, or long forgotten among the collections of centuries in some chateau or other. One might anticipate seeing this one in The Louvre's collection. One of my favorites!
