"Hot hand game (child's game) One of the players, his head hidden in the knees of a comrade, holds his hand open on his back, and is hitting this hand until he had guessed who hit him" - written in French on the back, you have a charming little painting of 18th century entertainment or child's play. The painting is likely and beautiful, with faces being just 3/8" from chin to hairline. The original bronze bow top French frame holds it well with a card Matt. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Dates c.1860-80s, it is painted in gouache on a celluloid wafer, and the artist's signature does appear. A little surface disruption to the old painting of a playful group. Frame is also in fine form.
