Fine antique French Palais Royal marked 14" tooled leather travel or vanity box, a large chest with gilt bronze hardware & handle and E. Bonhomme maker mark! Whatever contents, fittings, travel jars, etc. that would likely have been inside this opulent chest are gone now, just the maroon lining and faint markings where the fittings would have been remain now. Entirely veneered in tooled brown leather, the lid and base of the box framed with a gilt bronze all the way around and culminating in the hinge. The front lock are marked with an engraved "61 Rue Montpensier, E. Bonhomme, Palais Royal". The uses are only limited to you imagination but my inclination is just a fabulous table top decorative piece!
Good to very good condition. The box is as you see it, missing any interior fittings or contents. The exterior has a few light marks but no holes or tears in the leather. Original hardware and lock but missing the original key. See pictures for all measurements.
