From my own 'opportunistic' purse collection, as I'm not really a purse collector - I just bought one here or there over the decades as I was buying antiques in France (mostly), either because they were in superb condition, or were just too pretty to pass by, or as part of a 'lot' with other items I purchased. The bags have been stored for decades, laid flat and wrapped in acid free archival tissue to protect them and keep them from deteriorating. These were popular between Victorian times to as late as 1920s, and were made in France, Germany, elsewhere. I'm unsure of the origin of this one. The beads are 1mm, all glass, and just fascinated me with the beauty of designs and the incredible amount of work required.
Very good condition for age and type. The beadwork is complete down to the original beadwork tassel. Crochet edging at top and sewn metal rings through which what appears to me to be original chain 'strings' are strung. Beautiful old thing, I think you will want to make a replacement lining, as the old silk one is tattered as you can see in photos. I'm told these were also tobacco pouches, sometimes lined in suede. The bag is 7.5" x 5" plus tassel.
