Elegant antique French Napoleon III or Victorian era gilt bronze jewelry casket or trinket box with hand painted portrait miniature on ivory, genuine tortoise shell mat/outer ring and in wonderful condition!  The sitter in a rococo or lage Georgian style dress, powdered or pale coiffed hair with soft curls and flower ornament, low neckline dress with delicate fichu or lace popular in 18th c. fashion.  This work, however, a Second Empire or 'revival' style piece and likely made between 1850-1880s or so.

Very good condition.  Sorry about the dust visible in the images.  There is no interior lining at all with this one so you can see the back side of both the portrait fittings and the semi-translucent nature of the tortoise shell when light shines through it.  Some wear to the gilding possible but, as you can see, there are no dents or other damage to note.  See images for all measurements.
