An extra long 14k gold chain, 38 1/2" long, would have been for a woman's lorgnette, or watch, worn long and tucked into the belt (see final photo example). The chain is with the box which same with it, though I am not sure if it is original to it. Found in Paris, the box is also a valuable antique all on its own. If 18th century to early 19th century, someone has had to put a new clasp on the long chain, and it is marked 14k. The chain has been acid tested in several links and it is also at least 14k. The chain looks like it weighs much more than it does so perhaps it is hollow-link. It is just under 13 grams.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, no loss or damage at all to the extra long chain. Very well protected through time in the antique presentation box. The box is also excellent for age and type, and is shown from all views for your review. Interior shows there were originally other pieces of jewelry with it initially. At this time, only the extra long 14k gold chain remains.
