Fine c.1830-50s 16k gold mourning jewelry, a gentleman's lapel pin or stick pin, still housed in original domed leather case. The top locket has a worked hair ornament with initials, A B. While these were not always mourning, but were sentimental gifts to a groom from his bride, or between dear friends. Slightly convex and highly polished cover glass or crystal on front and backside, which also could hold a tiny souvenir or another lock of hair. Superb and rare antique. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The hair is worked on a small wafer which shows 2 fine hairlines. No floating hair, flowers held with a ribbon bow. The backside is another locket but appears to not have anything within. I believe the long pin has been shortened at some point, is a little shorter than most of these, and slightly short for its fitted case. Personal choice most likely. You will see small imperfections to the gold bezel edge, but it is very sturdy.
