Such an elegant Art Nouveau era 'peigne', large hair ornamental comb or tiara. This one is actually signed by the artisan, "AUGUSTE BONAZ", in script there on the backside. It is a jeweler's work of fine art created in the new wonder product, celluloid. A fine mimic of ivory, the French developed this material which shows a grain similar to the real material (see images). If you look closely, you see the brilliant pique work arching across the 5 3/4" crest, mounted further with the paste stone brilliants around the oval agate cartouche. Collector's dream. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, no flaws to note.
