A beautiful hand worked bead work interior with panels set into the leather sleeves that line both interior halves of this fine old case, and appears never to have been used. Some think these beaded cases are German in origin, c.1890-1910, and we see no reason to argue against that, lacking expertise or a maker mark. The interior flap is either for cigarettes, for use as a wallet, or as you can see by our photographer's ingenuity, this one is large enough to hold a regular iPhone or cell phone, leaving one side for folded money and a credit card or keys. . . making it a wonderful evening bag of sorts, right?
Very good to excellent condition, plain fine leather exterior opens to reveal a very lush interior of needlepoint-type beaded panels, set into the matching leather baffled side sleeves. We've shown it from all angles, and it's 6" x 4.75" and expands to .5" thick. Appears to not have been used, certainly not much at all. A very fine quality of supple leather, still as elegant as when made. This falls into the 'Uncommon Treasures' part of our name, and well, isn't it fun!
