Such a remarkable tiny work of art, her beautiful face is only 5/8" from chin to hairline. This is a early 19th century 'tourist' souvenir portrait of very fine quality, painted by hand and aprés, or after an original large oil painting by Vigee LeBrun, favorite court portraitist of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, and is of Miss Elizabeth, the sister of French King Louis XVI. Powdered wig with blue silk bows and ribbon, a low bodice, it's a wonderful copy of that famous painting - a very talented artist who has not signed the work. This is an often copied subject but rarely done so well as this painting. Full measurements of this tiny painting are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, she has her original beveled and polished cover glass and the painting and wafer remains pristine in full. Still in the original small frame, just 2 1/4" tall. Likely would have originally been mounted in a group including other period historical figures, and exists as you see her today.
