As noted, 18th and 19th century portraits of children are quite rare, and are highly collectable, sweet treasures. The hint of a smile is so sweet and alive, and the eyes hold the gaze, and one can't quite imagine the artist could capture an active baby, small child so well. What child holds still long enough? A darling blond boy, blue eyed and with a hint of mischief ahead. A superb tiny painting on thin wafer, this frame's back is attached in a manner which prevented me from opening up to get a photo of just the wafer, but it has a thin flat cover glass so not as difficult to capture his likeness without glares.  Measurements noted on photos. An unusual hexagon frame, ready to hang.

Very good to excellent throughout on this one. I see nothing to report as a flaw of any kind. A tiny bit of dust, I see, in my photo process. The fabric mat around the inner oval frame is velvet, attracts micro-dust which my photo lights find when my eyes cannot. The frame seems impossibly thin, and from the gold surface, I would venture that the hexagon has, at minimum, a gold plate or gold facing on it. I have not tested this one. Please note, the c.1700s intaglio print upon which I have photographed miniatures helps me a lot with processing as it gives a very balanced color. It is not included with the portrait miniature. Just a prop.
