"G. Thompson & Co., Regent St. W.I.", the street number is impossible to read, but we know the up-market stores of Regent Street were all top-drawer. Beautiful old thing, British Edwardian era, has been in my own collections for decades. Beautifully crafted and with a purveyor's mark gold-embossed there on the tip-front lip of the hinged drawer. I've thought of it as a server for tea bags, actually, though it is also just about the width of the old unfiltered cigarettes, or cheroot in that 2 7/8" wide interior of the hinged inner compartment. Very clean, no scent to hint, it remains in very pretty display condition - beautiful from all sides. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition, I see no chips, no hairlines, no losses to report as flaws. It has that elegant combination of cognac to chocolate shell, and accented by the parquet mother of pearl shell up top. A trim edge with the look of old ivory but I'm not certain and think it might be faux. No grain.
