Superb 19th century French rose bowl, either Baccarat or St. Louis (each made these similar labor-intensive beuties, Belle Epoch). The hand applied raised gold enamel on this one is particularly fine and complete. The body of the mouth-blown vase undulates due to variation in thickness. A true work of glassmaker's artistry. The narrowing at neck and then flare in a hexagonal collar makes it just exquisite in design, execution and display. This is from my personal collection. So pretty! Measurements noted on the photos, but it is 5" tall, 4.25" in diameter at widest, and the hexagon mouth is 2.75" across.
Very good to excellent for age and type. The applied gold enamel work is not only exquisite, it is complete and in a fine state of preservation. Even on the upper rim, little loss. No chips, no cracks, and you can see a couple of tiny bubbles in the mouth blown glass. A fine cut and polished bottom, exceptionally nice frame all sides.
