I have a zillion beautiful old French frames, and am finally beginning to work them up to sell. If you're wanting to put together a tabletop or piano or desk grouping of your favorite photos, these are splendid grouped in various sizes and shapes, all sold separately. Almost all are c.1850-1880, "Napoleon III" era, mid-Victorian in age. A few are earlier, none later.
This one is a beautifully crafted square mid-sized frame, 6 1/2" with a large round aperture of 4 1/8" diameter. A hanging loop and original easel back remain fully intact, as does the original 19th century cover glass. A very interesting cross-textural silk velvet mat seems to me to be a renovation mat, nicely done. Ready to add your small photos and display either hanging or with easel stand. Very good to excellent condition, beautifully crafted. These old ones have fine detail and this one has no damage to report. Thick cast, brilliant dore bronze. A cloth (silk moire, refurbished beautifully) inner mat into which the aperture is set. The frame has the old original woven French fabric covered backing, pin-set mount. My favorite type of French frames. It is fully intact, ready to use.
