Beautiful antique French Napoleon III or Victorian to Belle Epoque era jewel casket, a lovely box in gilt ormolu, cranberry or ruby glass and thick beveled glass with hand painted enamel floral decoration. Another recent find from France, this little treasure chest in the form of a basket with two thick beveled glass lids and cranberry or ruby glass body. A center handle brings the height to roughly 5 1/4" and the width at 4.5". The lid panels in thick, clear beveled glass, each with a hand painted floral spray and the sides of the box decorated similarly. The enamel thick, with depth and vivid colors. A lovely little casket.
Very good condition. I see no chips, cracks or damage to the glass, the gilded framework only slightly tarnished. No notable loss to the enamel decoration. See pictures for measurements.
