First, let me say, it is not a humidor. There is no mechanism to keep tobacco moist - these are presentation chests, cabinets, box and something one would have in office or den for after dinner cigar service. In the 1800s, French cabinetry firms competed to create the most elegant boxes of all size, shape and special use, and the cigar cabinets that survive that era are quite incredible works of art. Stunning fine hardwood veneers in contrasts and compliments, brass inlay and edging, fitted sliding cigar shelves and typically, as in this large one, a drawer at bottom to hold the tools of the cigar smoker. This one comes forward from that era. C. 1850-70s, warm and opulent woods, 4 sliding shelves (might have been 1 more originally, just there about the drawer). One can store or offer up to 40 cigars - 4 trays of 10 fittings each. Nicely crafted with the best hardware, it even still had the working original key. Full measurements are noted on our photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, (c.1850-70), no loss of veneer, and the heavy brass stringing and edging is all in place, as are each of the original cigar tray knobs (rare to find). It's beautiful whether on display closed or open. Serpentine front and a mother of pearl cartouche (not engraved yet) add to the beauty, as well. Photos show it from all sides but bottom, and it is plain and no breaks. Trays and drawer each rest on wood sliders and they slide smoothly. Often trays are broken. I did not notice any of these having an old repaired break. Beautiful old one! It will not last with our collectors. Last three we've had sold within a day of listing. Don't think too long!
