Charming little infant holding grapes for his portrait. The artist has signed the work, "Seibert 1858", and we have no ID on the child. Framed, he is 2 3/8" x 2" oval, plus the hanging bale. The portrait wafer is smaller, just 2" x 1 5/8" oval.  That stunning little portrait shows the entire face, chin to hairline within only 3/4" height. An amazing and rare fine painting. Still sealed in the original tissue (onion skin-like) to keep dust out from between cover glass and painting, I did not open the original seal to clean inside of the slightly convex cover glass. I always respect an original seal.

Very good to excellent, a fine painting and well-preserved without any flaws inside the original sealed glass cover, backing. The little frame is simple, but charming as it holds this rare painting.  Children's portraits are rare to being with. Purchased in France, this is one of my personal favorites after decades of collecting. Time to let them move on, though.
