Fun accent for your cabin, den, Country French home, this late 1800s to perhaps as late as 1910 hand carved wood wall hanging with bird and fruit is a pocket watch holder, display. You can see that the 5cm recess where the watch fits has a padding of old silk velvet, and also that it needs a replacement pin of wood or metal to hold the bale of your pocket watch. Measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good condition for age and type, a tiny nip to the tip of the beak and small nips to a couple of the leaf tips (marked with x from back view photo for your inspection), but nothing major to detract from this really charming old carving. You'll need to insert a twig or perhaps metal hook in that opening in order to put it to use as a watch holder, but otherwise, it's just superb. Probably someone's souvenir of their Grand Tour of the Swiss Alps.
