Found in France recently, this is a superb and undamaged late 1800s perfume bottle, flask which is larger than any we've had before. A full 5 1/8" long, beautifully crafted. The sharp cut facets and serpentine form of the bottle make it a jewel in light. I have not fully captured it, but it does amazing things with light. Shoulder mount has the tiny boar's head profile punch mark, which is France's control mark affirming it to be .800/1000 pure silver. It is typical for small pieces which need extra strength to be made in .800 rather than .950 - more serviceable.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, I gave it a cursory polish, wanting some tarnish to remain in the patterning of the hand-worked silver so you could see it better. I find no dents, no flaws to the silver, cap fits tightly and well. You'll note that the original stopper remains in place, and there are no cracks in the inner neck. And all those fragile bevels ini the cut of the crystal - I do not find even a fingertip-feel of a nip, no chips. Really a beauty!
