First, let me say that her face with all the elegance of it, is only 1/2" from chin to hairline - tiny. Consider the exquisite features, shading, blush and palette this artist has employed to capture her. The same Master's detail given to her gown, the lace, even the gold bracelet she wears on her gracefully posed casual sitting, an arm rested on the back of a chair or 'rècamier" (reclining couch, named after Madame Rècamier.). Full-sized paintings rarely present such fine detail. And yet our artist has not signed this work. The last collector who owned her had gone to the trouble to open up the backing, clean the convex cover glass and then reseal the backside to keep out any future dust or ambient humidity/moisture, so my photos will show slight glares from our photo lighting. There are truly no flaws on this fine painting. A personal favorite! Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. I truly find not a single flaw to note. An exquisite fine miniature! Even the frame is fine. She dates c.1810-30.
