Sometimes some charming little thing just adds itself to our stack of antiques as we're in France buying, and that is what happened with this cute pair of 18th or 19th century hand colored intaglio prints in their early 20th century wooden frames. Like portrait miniatures, the pair made me think of decor for Bru and other antique dolls' 'homes'. Frames are wood and in nice vintage condition. Just a sweet little pair (full measurements noted on the photos). I tried to figure out the city, but have not (from my travels). Lovely little miniatures were probably illustrations in a c.1700s leather-bound book, delicately hand colored.
Very good to excellent, the vintage frames are fine quality and are wood. I'd put them no later than 1920s or so, but the old prints are much much older. Hanging hardware intact and they're ready to hang. I see no flaws to note, really. Glazed, each one - there are no chips nor hairlines or cracks on either cover glass.
