Gorgeous antique French sterling silver & intaglio etched or engraved glass covered dish, dessert or cheese serving with highly ornate rococo style decoration & wonderful condition! First off, the silversmith marks on the dome handle are different that the ones on the base so this may be a married piece but what a beautiful and functional marriage :). The base plateau is 3 1/4" tall and has an 8 3/8" diameter and is beautiful. The pictures show the sterling decoration but accurately showing the engraved decoration on the glass was hard...hopefully I've done the piece justice. Truly beautiful. The dome is just glass with no decoration but does have the sterling silver handle. Perfect for cheeses perhaps? The uses really only limited by your imagination and, with such a stunning piece, anything is bound to taste better if served here.
Very good to excellent condition. As noted, silversmith marks on dome handle and the actual plateau are different but, if original, it was really not out of the ordinary for a silversmith to outsource. No chips or cracks in the glass, do damage to the silver that I can see. See images for all measurements.
