From my own 'opportunistic' purse collection, as I'm not really a purse collector - I just bought one here or there over the decades as I was buying antiques in France (mostly), either because they were in superb condition, or were just too pretty to pass by, or as part of a 'lot' with other items I purchased. The bags have been stored for decades, laid flat and wrapped in acid free archival tissue to protect them and keep them from deteriorating. These were popular between Victorian times to as late as 1920s, and were made in France, Germany, elsewhere. This one has the old tag inside, or an old tag, "Original Schaupert Perltasche Made in Germany", though it's hand stitched in and there is no longer a lining, so I am not positive it always went with this purse. It is as I bought it. The beads are 1mm, all glass, and just fascinate me with the beauty of designs and the incredible amount of work required.
Very good condition for age and type. The beadwork is complete down to the original beadwork tassel. Crochet edging at top with self rings through which what appears to me to be original string. Beautiful old thing, No lining at all. I think you will want to make a replacement lining. I'm told these were also tobacco pouches, sometimes lined in suede. The bag is 7.5" x 5" plus tassel.
