Tiniest whimsey, a Palais Royal treasure dating c.1820-40, this natural walnut shell is fitted with .800/1000 French silver, holding the original pair of blown and cut cranberry glass perfume flacon, flasks or bottles and a tiny matching scent funnel. So rare to find these at all, let alone complete and free of any damage. If you look closely you can see the tiny French silver control mark on the hinged collar and cap on each perfume bottle. There is a cork inside each cap, preventing the need for stoppers. They are complete as shown. The fitting made specifically for this particular real walnut, it's a tiny work of art and silversmith's, glassmaker's artistry that will thrill all who see or hold it. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, this one really has no flaws to note. I suppose I might mention the original silk lining in top half of the shell, just that it shows some age. There are no breaks in the walnut, which is super-rare. Likewise, no flaws or damage to either of the twin and tiny perfume bottles. A true museum piece. In 35 years, we've offered only 3-4 of these little trinket items, walnuts not always perfect, some with miniature sewing tools inside and a single perfume bottle. I can't convey how rare they really are. This is from my own personal collection.
