Fine antique Victorian to early Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved match box, a lovely casket with foliate & tobacco pipe carved accents and angled striker front! We have a few old Napoleon III era match boxes in this style but, if I'm correct, this is the first Black Forest one we've come across. Actually just in from France and priced to move. Great for a country French or English decor and, of course, a Black Forest accented interior.
Good condition. As you can see, there are numerous worm/bug holes and some have wood dust in them but there is nothing active. The striker strip is missing but could be replaced with a bit of fine sand paper and I'd be happy to do so before sending if you wish (tan or black/charcoal colored sand paper). Also possible loss to some foliage on the top appliqué with pipes. See pictures for all measurements.
