These are always a fun and good idea. My brother, Jim, came to do a buying day out with me last weekend and of course he found a few things. It's quality time. This is one of his finds and we're offering it in his behalf. You know my tastes go more to French, but I do love these side tables made from charming antique boxes, work boxes or sewing boxes. Mostly they're an English decor accent, but very handy also to tuck in your knitting, or even for use as a gentleman's smoking table at chair side in the den. The table base for this one has a little bit of a modified chippendale shape to the trim at tops of legs. It's been nicely crafted, and together with its antique box, makes a serviceable and charming accent.  Jim got a good buy on it, and he's passing that along to our buyer. Measurements are noted directly on the photos.

Very good condition throughout, the finish is even and very pretty as a whole. The box is permanently attached to its table, made specifically for it. A simple box, some inlays, it compliments the stand very well. Diamond escutcheon of contrasting wood, and some contrasted inlays on top, it's simple and elegant at the same time. Note that there are no breaks, no chips, the flaw most notable is that the top half of the box's lock is missing and while the bottom half will work, there was no key when found. Perhaps we'll have one that can, as a decorative accent to it, fit the lock mechanism, but you would still need to fine a top plate if you wanted it to lock. The box has age to it and a faint shadow on inner lid of perhaps a child's writing - a few letters. One sectioned compartment inside, as shown. My decor doesn't really compliment it well, as it does need a more traditional or English Manor decor. Would also work in modern ecclectic. I see more and more antiques added into decorating again, Architectural Digest, etc., and the blend of old and modern can be stunning!
