A magnificent gift set, all original from the leather covered wood etui or hinged case, to the elegant and perfectly preserved holder within. Finest carved ivory and 18k gold holder for cheroot or regular sized typical cigarette (eagle's head profile French guarantee marks, 18k gold). Finest quality, and it seems to have ever been put to use. Clean, no bite marks at the mouthpiece, no dents to the gold and no damage to the old case. Light in weight, perfect for a lady to tuck into her purse, or a man to tuck into a vest pocket. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, this would date c.1890-1920s. There's really nothing to report by way of a flaw, appears to have never been used. 18k gold band and cartouche are undamaged, no dents. There is no monogram on the cartouche. The French guarantee mark for 18k gold is the profile of eagle's head. No way to weigh the gold, but these are not super-thin - the French luxury sets never were.
