Elegant antique French Napoleon III era 18k gold 'vermeil' on solid .800 silver 6.5" sugar tongs with an aesthetic style pattern and delightful little figural macaroon style accents! Something that doesn't immediately come to mind when thinking of a fine antique sterling silver tea & coffee set but, as you can imagine, these are pretty much a must have if you're using cubes in your sugar caddy. Nothing quite so elegant as the details, right? Each side bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the outer curved shape and tiny number "2" within those marks means it's in at least .800 silver (80% pure so just under the .925 standard for "sterling" silver but common in that the slightly lower silver content gives it more strength). One of just a few that we currently have available so, if this one isn't quite a match for your existing service, be sure to browse some while you're with us. Thanks!
Good to very good condition. Very light surface scuffing but, as you can see, the vermeil is in wonderful condition with very little, if any, loss or wear. There is one spot of wear that appears to be a silver solder near the upper area (just below the top bend/curve, where it meets the side handle segment). See pictures for weight and measurements.
