Oh, it's from my own wall, and long a favorite, this petit oil painting of the mysterious dog and rooster. Were they pets of the artist, or of the patron who commissioned this charming oil painting? From that era, I've had many portrait miniatures showing a pet bird, a dog. I have only 2 oil paintings of roosters, though, and the other one will be listed today, too. Look for it, also. You might want them both (sold separately). The painting is superb, stretched old canvas (see images from backside), and the frame is a valuable antique on it's own merit. The appliqué has some flaw, but these frames are well over 200 years old, French Empire, and rare. Time for me to begin downsizing, but these guys will stay on my wall until they're yours.
Very good to excellent for age and type. The frame shows some of its 200+ years, a bit of loss to the French Empire appliqués, as you can see. I've detailed each corner. The oil painting has a few very small touchups, but no tears or holes (see back of canvas). Rare image! I mean, sure a dog, but who paints their pet rooster? This unsigned artist did. Note the size. it's on my wall in a cluster of antique paintings, but it would be superb as a shelf painting, or on easel on side table - intimate. Something close to a miniature painting, portrait of pets, it would be spectacular in your Bru or antique doll house!
