In the fashion of her time, this woman shows us the gauzy loosely fit Empire gown, caught at the shoulder with a brooch, revival of the Greek fashions of antiquity. Fashion influenced by the broad travels and conquests (and pillaging) of Napoleon's expanding Empire. She also wears a pearl-set tiara and an arm band. And while she shows a nipple, I would no consider this a 'naughty'. It was simply the accident of chic fashion and a keen artist. 

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, we've taken her out of her frame to show the painting and wafer, and the convex cover glass (original) that has so beautifully protected her these 2 centuries. Full measurements are noted on our photos.
