A unique find, out of France, this is a large bracelet, both the fit and the portrait size, and will fit up to a 7" wrist. The portrait miniature is a beautiful young woman with chain or string of gems atop her head. She's signed, LeBrun, though one should not consider it to be Charles LeBrun or daughter, Vigee LeBrun. I think it does not date back that far. Heavy, beautifully crafted, the portrait is backed by mother of pearl, but is not painted on mother of pearl - one can see a disruption to the right of the girl's ear where some surface flaking has occurred, perhaps a long ago touch-up there. I did not try to take it apart and so photos are taken through the original convex polished cover glass and she is more clearly seen with the eye. Full measurements are noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I did polish the vermeil (18k gold on sterling silver) as a bit of tarnish of age was visible. The gold is quite well preserved on the silver as it came back bright and beautiful. There are no dents in the actual bracelet, which is unusual. The silver is a rather heavy gauge, making dents less likely. The insert clasp seems to hold the bracelet sufficiently for wear should you wish to. She did not come with a box, and so photos showing a bracelet box are for display purposes only. Large and unique - beautiful!
