Quite possibly a Grand Tour souvenir portrait miniature from c.1830-50, painted after a popular painting. The era for the sitter, however, is that of Marie-Antoinette and French King Louis XVI. While she might have a look of Marie-Antoinette, I think it is more likely another figure in the pre-Revolutionary courtège. The painting is not, I'm quite sure, from 1750-70s. But the figure is. Beautifully coiffed and gowned, the painting is signed to the right side edge, and it appears to be "DE. Rozete", possibly Ruzete. The measurements are noted on our photos. NOTE: It is possibly Marie Therese de Savoy, Princess de Lamballe, friend of Queen Marie-Antoinette, but we can't locate the original painting after which our miniature is done in order to verify it. Search for her images and decide for yourself, please.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. When removed from her frame, I can see there is a very tight fine hairline in the area about 4-5 o'clock, it is marked with an x in the image shown of just the wafer. Otherwise, excellent. Frame and mat are each fine and the cover glass is, as well. Lovely old thing! These are wonderful, too, as wall art for doll houses, I'm told. Bru will love this one.
