Fabulous antique to vintage French hallmarked .800 or better solid silver compact with original beveled mirror & vermeil or gold plated interior and kiln-fired enamel top including a detailed figural medallion showing a plethora of world symbols for luck! I stared at this one for quite a while, marveling at the wonderful detail to the figural enamel before I realized that all of those symbols and figures are viewed as "lucky" in different parts of the world. Luck, guess that's something we've all needed over the past 12-18 months! An elephant, four leaf clover, horseshoe, penguin, pig, ladybug and more! The interior bears the tiny French boar's head hallmark that designates .800 or finer silver content (80% pure so just under the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith make is also tiny but legible, unfortunately I've not found reference to it yet so can't narrow down the date of manufacture. There is a signature on the bas relief medallion, "Lavalois".
Very good to excellent condition. There appears to be a few tiny spots on the raised figural/symbol silver bas relief where the silver is showing through (around 1-2 o'clock position) but no other damage to note. See pictures for all measurements.
