Elegant antique French 1897-1912 hallmarked sterling silver 8 7/8" tea pot or teapot with bead festooned bands top & bottom, seashell shape accented handle & fabulous condition! Just under 9" wide, this one will be a beautiful addition to your Holiday and/or fine dining table ensemble. Finest .950/1000 pure silver, the highest standard for sterling in the world, the French silver is the most high sought after of all. Partly this is because of the high silver content and thick gauge fabrication which means it won't dent or damage easily as others do. But mostly there is the recognition of the great French Master Silversmiths' artistry that comes to bear. This pot appears to have the mark of Risler & Carre (Paris c. 1897-1912), a turn of the century firm with a reputable history. The two considered top firms (arguably) would be Odiot and Puiforcat but we've had and offered many beautifully crafted pieces from Risler & Carre and this is just such a piece. Heirloom and investment quality silver!
Very good to excellent condition without any dents or dings or breaks in the silver or to the beautiful wooden handle. The pot has a bit of a hexagonal form worked into the simple style giving it a little bit of an Art Deco feel. Long spout and hinged lid - all without damage. There is a bit of visible tarnish at the tip of the spout, sorry, we'll polish it up before sending out. Ready to use, give as a gift, tuck away in your stash of fabulous French silver.
