Delightful antique French Napoleon III or Victorian to early Edwardian era hand carved solid wood 11" wide figural wall, clock or 'bracket' shelf with wonderful visual & decorative appeal featuring a jovial looking hooded jester type figure supporting the shelf on his back and in wonderful condition! A medium-sized, impressively carved piece! Recently in from France and a lovely work, you'll love it for sure!
Very good condition. The shelf surface shows a fissure near the front, likely a glued restoration to where the two thick solid wood panels were originally joined. There is also a carved wood repair to the tip of his left leg shoe (noted in the images). I'm not certain of the wood but it's solid and heavy, perhaps mahogany or walnut? Lovely!
