A beautiful early 1900s to perhaps c.1880 hand carved large jewelry or cigar chest, an everlasting bouquet carved up top, resting on a scrolled parchment-like panel. Likely to have been a Grand Tour souvenir and from the carvers of Switzerland. Full measurements noted on the photos. Interior compartment is roughly 8.5" x 4.75" and a closed depth of 3.5".
The box is in remarkably fine condition without chips or loss, no cracks, no dinged corners - nothing. The only thing it misses is the original key to the working lock - well, that and whatever you'd decide to store within. It isn't a humidor, but it would be fabulous to store individually wrapped cigars. Or for letters, documents, old family photos, jewelry. Unlined, the wood grain is also beautiful.
