So delicately carved, it reminds me of the Dieppe ivory carvings from France, early 1800s. That carved floral bouquet up top is truly a work of fine art. It's unusual to find this type of pocket watch cases, box, coffret in Black Forest or carved origin. But not without precedent in larger boxes we've seen or offered. Still with the fine original silk satin lining and silk velvet backing, too. Measurements are noted in the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. The entire box is so beautifully maintained, preserved. It is amazing to me that not even a single chip can be found. It retains the inner hinged display, used to turn a pocket watch into a night clock at bedside, it's clean and no shredding of the silk fabric. Lots of photos, all sides/views. The display aperture will hold a 44mm watch or smaller, plus bale. It would be a wonderful display case to hold a fine portrait miniature, as well.
