Charming antique Italian Grand Tour style souvenir casket or patch box in the form of a braided wire basket or bucket complete with handles and “eglomise” or reverse painted top depicting a scene of Santa Maria al Monte dei Cappuccini, Turin! The lid a round beveled glass panel with the souvenir scene transferred and hand painted on the under side, referred to as eglomise. The banner just below the bridge in the painting reads “Torino - Monte Cappuccino” though a little research comes up with a slightly different spelling. A lovely little souvenir box, these always look great grouped and displayed and make much more enjoyable souvenirs to your recent ‘Grand Tour’ travels.
Very good to excellent condition. You can see what looks like a hairline crack or two to the paint in the 5:30 position but no chips or cracks to the glass itself. No damage or repairs to the basket/box that I can see. See pictures for measurements.
