c. 1812 French Empire portrait miniature of a young gentleman, signed by artist, "Reinhold". Composition frame. We are unsure which Reinhold is our artist:
REINHARD, August: born in 1796 in Guntersberge (Harz), died in 1860 in Ballenstedt. German watercolor painter and porcelain painter. Father of Raphael Reinhard. He painted Harz landscapes, miniatures and porcelain.
REINHARD, JOHANN AUGUST: active in Leipzig at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. German painter.

He's an elegant figure, very well-attired. Blue overcoat with tall standing collar, double-breasted, cravat of lace and tall-collared white shirt. He fairly shouts "wealth", doesn't he. A charming image. I have his wife, also, and she will be offered separately, but is shown in our final images here. Same artist, sold separately.
Very good to excellent condition, more than 200 years ago this young gentleman lived a life. We have no identification for him, but the artist's signature is there for your research and enjoyment. Painted in gouache on thin panel, typical of this art form. The painting, frame and Matt are all in excellent condition. The scattered flaws on the original cover glass are the whiteness you see. The painting is without flaw. We're leaving the original flawed cover glass, historically, but it can be changed out to reveal the splendid miniature beneath. Otherwise,I see nothing to report as a flaw.
