As you know, dogs are rare in the old Swiss Black Forest hand carved goods. Far more likely to have chamois or game and forest birds up top than a spaniel. This fine cigar cabinet, however, has a darling hunting dog - spaniel of some sort. He is missing his tail, though a mounting hole is there in case you can have a tail carved for him. So often certain spaniels' tails are docked, so it doesn't look strange for him not to have one and could be left as is, but I do want to point it out. The cabinet and all 5 original carved sliding trays remain intact, and can serve up to 60 cigars. The old lock works and a key is with the chest, though I do not think it is the original. A cigar 'tantalus', the lid hinges up and back when service is at hand. Full measurements are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Not a single tray is missing or repaired or damaged, or warped, which makes this one a superb service piece. All slide smoothly on their racks. Charming spaniel seems more like a pet than a hunting dog, and as noted, he is missing his tail at present. The only flaws otherwise are chipped long leaves behind him and a very slight upward warp to the top of lid, only visible from  being eye level with the lid, which no one will ever be. Working lock, a key which works (seems big for it, but it came with it). Good sized and holds up to 60 cigars.
