It makes me wonder - were they pearls gathered by some Victorian Grand Tour traveler, who brought them back to England and commissioned this very unique jewelry item, then closed the box and simply kept it stored? That would be my guess. At nearly 5" long, it's not one that fits into fashion trends then. In any case, a total weight on the brooch at 9.52 grams, most of it gold, and today's gold prices (Jan 29, 2026), the estimated portion that is gold is above $1k. Antique fine jewelry, bespoke - none like it and in original presentation box is a very lucky find! I found it ages ago in London. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
