I've had this for decades, tucked away and then sort of lost. I had a pair of earrings and finally listed and immediately sold those and then recently located this beautiful irredescent actual Egyptian scarab beetle's shell mounted in fine 18k yellow gold. There are 6 graduated hinged dangles. The S-form chain I'm leaving with it is not as old and is 14k gold, 19" long. Somehow the S-links work beautifully with the scarab's mount. Photos show all - not a flaw on that shell! Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, not a bit of damage or loss to the scarab - beautiful colors and surface. As noted above, the mount is 18k gold, yellow in color, and of fine quality evidenced by the closed back. You can see there are surface abrasions on the backside of the pendant. You might wish to have those polished out, but in actual size they really don't show much at all. Also as noted, the chain is not as old. I don't know how old it is, but it is 14k gold - likely mid-1900, I'd guess. It will stay with the scarab pendant and in the box shown. The box is not original to this jewelry, but it is a fine vintage one for protection.
