An English made cigar case, appears to have been used little if at all, the beautiful old leather sides, outer panels and interior are unique and masculine, hunt theme with the carved antler running stag as cartouche, surrounded with oval frame of tortoise shell. Supple leather, this one has no splits on the side baffles but it doesn't open very wide. I've shown it closed with a pair of antique spectacles inside. I do think it would hold 3 cigars ok but probably not 6.
Very good to excellent condition, amazing there are no losses or breaks to the carved antler stag, those slender legs and all. These are carved from the very base of shorn antler, the veining of which creates the laciness of the tree. No breaks in the old tortoise shell, either. No holes nor flaw to the multicolored elegant leather, which remains supple. Interior is like a fine saddle leather, frame clasp holds tight, but I to not think more than 3 cigars unless they're thin cheroot types. Closes fine with the spectacles as shown (they do not go with the case). Measurements noted on photos.
IMPORTANT NOTE regarding antique tortoise shell or ivory: We are great supporters of protection for endangered species in our modern world. We never buy or sell anything 100 years or newer; we donate to anti-poaching organizations; we don't hunt; we conserve in ways that impact global warming (we're totally solar at home), knowing those measures also protect the animals in the wild today. We also recognize the vast cultural history we preserve with our care and reverence for these antique objects, and agree with CITES that objects over 100 years of age have nothing whatsoever to do with species depletion in our current world.
Our offering exceeds the age limitation of "more than 100 years of age", and is well within the exemption for CITES regulation. If imported, met the CITES regulation. This item will be handled and shipped from our Utah business, and is not available for shipment internationally, nor within the USA to California, NY, Nevada, Hawaii, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington if it contains ivory, sorry. Please see our small print for more details.
