A rare and attractive matched set of three antique straight razors, all marked “Diamondine” with “Rud. Herold, New York” tang stamps. These razors date to the late 19th–early 20th century and represent high-quality German-made blades produced for the American market and retailed through a New York importer Rud (Rudolph), NYC.

The set consists of:
• Two razors with ivory handles
• One razor with a genuine tortoiseshell handle

All three blades feature finely executed ornate Diamondine etching, consistent in style and quality across the set, and display honest age-appropriate patina. The blades are hollow-ground carbon steel, typical of Solingen export razors of the period.

The razors are housed together in their original fitted leather case (étui), custom-shaped to hold all three pieces securely. The presence of the original case significantly enhances the desirability and historical integrity of the set, as such multi-razor etuis rarely survive intact.

This set would have represented a premium gentleman’s or barber’s kit at the time of sale, combining fine materials, skilled German blade manufacture, and New York retail branding. Today, it stands as an excellent example of turn-of-the-century straight razor craftsmanship and presentation, suitable for a serious collection, display, or careful restoration. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Very light flaws to handles, view photos.

IMPORTANT NOTE regarding antique tortoise shell or ivory: We are great supporters of protection for endangered species in our modern world. We never buy or sell anything 100 years or newer; we donate to anti-poaching organizations; we don't hunt; we conserve in ways that impact global warming (we're totally solar at home), knowing those measures also protect the animals in the wild today. We also recognize the vast cultural history we preserve with our care and reverence for these antique objects, and agree with CITES that objects over 100 years of age have nothing whatsoever to do with species depletion in our current world.

Our offering exceeds the age limitation of "more than 100 years of age", and is well within the exemption for CITES regulation. If imported, met the CITES regulation. This item will be handled and shipped from our Utah business, and is not available for shipment internationally, nor within the USA to California, NY, Nevada, Hawaii, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington if it contains ivory, sorry. Please see our small print for more details.
