Delightful antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved thermometer stand, an owl with two-toned glass eyes perched over a rodent crouched below and marked as a Swiss souvenir of "Beaumaroche", the Pelerin Palace Hotel! A fabulous motif here with the predator & prey, the owl perched to the left of the thermometer (looking a bit clueless if you ask me) but that little rat or mouse below sure knows he's there :). A wonderful Grand Tour style Alpine souvenir, don't miss it!
Very good condition. We're not certain but the thermometer & plaque may be later replacements (we normally see these thermometer stands with either enamel or brass plaques and this one looks a bit newer but will work just fine). There are chips to the owl's ears and beak and a few other small nips. See pictures for all measurements.
